Little Raith Wind Farm - Mossmorran

Mossmorran petrochemical complex is two separate plants, one half is operated by Shell which is identified as a Buncefield type site, and the other half is operated by ExxonMobil which is a COMAH site.

Built within close proximity to the plant is 9 x 410 ft Industrial Wind Turbines that has been identified as having the potential to impact on the pollutants dispersed by the chemical plant, by dispersing the pollutants in higher concentrations in the local area. Despite the research other wind farm developers are putting forward speculative applications in the area.

Located in close proximity is an Industrial Wind Farm compromising of 9x410ft Industrial Wind Turbines.

During the past two weeks there has been some residents affected with shadow flicker and strobing in the evenings from the wind turbines due to the flares.

There is already local concerns regarding the various impacts of the chemical plant, and the wind farm has been identified as having the potential to increase pollutants from the Fife Ethylene Plant in the local area in higher concentrations.

The Lochgelly Community Council and Loch of Shining Waters are conducting a petition for permanent Air Quality Monitoring Stations to be put in place in the affected communities - http://goo.gl/Btw0s

Loch of Shining Waters is also conducting an independent Mossmorran Perception study to try and assess the various concerns raised in various communities, to have these concerns addressed - http://goo.gl/41115
