The following video from the State of Brandenburg, Germany, shows us how intrusive wind turbines can be in our daily lives. Now, many citizens from that State are rebelling against a plan to launch a second wave of windfarms, which would multiply the damage already done.

Through a Popular Initiative (Volksinitiative) they are presenting 18 candidates to the Brandenburg elections on September 27th , whose only programme is to stop the windfarm plan as well as forcing a revision of the State's water policy.

« This is only the beginning.

By 2020, if we don't react, wind turbines by the thousands will be revolving around our homes, in our forests and other natural settings. So have decided the politicians of our State. Brandenburg is immersed in windfarm insanity!

Lobbyists of the highly-subsidised but ineffective wind energy have managed to impose their views around here. Their giant windmills generate artificial, taxpayer-funded profits. They can deliver usable electricity, but only if their intermittency is backed up by coal-fired or nuclear power plants. They do nothing for climate.

Why not spend our money on geothermal and solar energies ?

We think windfarms should be sensibly located : in former military zones or open-cast mines, with a setback of 1500 m from habitations, and without destroying or disfiguring our landscape.

On September 27th, please vote for the Popular Initiative (Volksinitiative) against the massive deployment of windfarms in the State of Brandebourg, and against ill-conceived water policies. »

Brandenburg citizens present 18 anti-windfarm candidates to the elections

Reacting against the decision of the State of Brandenburg to considerably increase the already vast areas covered by windfarms, a local Volksinitiative (Popular Initiative) petition was launched, which gathered 27,000 signatures against the State's decision.

Note: the State of Brandenburg is the "Land" around Berlin. Its capital is Potsdam, and Berlin itself constitutes another Land. Germany is a federal state comprising 16 "Länder".

The Brandenburg constitutional laws allow the people to present a list to the elections without forming a political party, so the Popular Initiative decided to carry their protest further. They are now presenting 18 candidates to the state elections, outside the party system.

They are neither "left" nor "right", and seek to remain what they are: an independent "political formation" whose platform is to oppose the further degradation of the countryside by windfarms, as well as the current water policy of their government.

They are not supported by any political party, and they are not looking for political alliances. They just don't want more windfarms, and would like their voice to be heard. The elections will take place on September 27th.

Increasingly, many politicians violate their own laws. Entire countries are handed over to powerful windpower lobbies who remodel the landscape as they see fit. Wildlife reserves and historical landmarks cease to be protected so as to accommodate private financial interests. In the circumstances, it is no surprise to see people voting against the traditional parties who have betrayed them.

We, the European Platform Against Windfarms, representing 360 associations from 19 European countries, give our full support to the Volksinitiative. We approve of their action and wish them a resounding success at the coming elections.

May reason prevail. We cannot allow the misguided policies of our present leaders to disfigure natural, monumental, and cultural Europe, turning it into an industrial wasteland from Lapland to Gibraltar. They won't even respect World Heritage sites and monuments (such as Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandy, where we are organising an international protest march on September 26th). There appears to be no limits to the subsidised greed that has been unleashed.

It is high time to rethink Europe's windfarm policy.

Windkraftkritiker gehen in den Wahlkampf

Die Volksinitiative wurde einstimmig als politische Vereinigung anerkannt!

Am 23.7. tagte der Landeswahlausschuss in einer öffentlichen Sitzung im Innenministerium um festzustellen, welche Parteien und Vereinigungen, die beim Landeswahlleiter ihre Beteiligung an der Landtagswahl angezeigt haben, als Parteien und politische Vereinigungen anzuerkennen sind.

Volksinitiative und Unterstützung

Liebe Mitstreiter in der EPAW,

die Volksinitiative "Gegen die Massenbebauung Brandenburgs mit Windkraftanlagen" war mit über 27.000 gesammelten und über 22.000 gewerteten Unterschriften im Land Brandenburg/ Deutschland erfolgreich.

Obwohl man der VI sehr oft aus rein ideologischen Gründen nicht die Erlaubnis gab, Unterschriften zu sammeln und auch die Medien keine ausgewogene Berichterstattung durchführten, haben die Bürger des Landes Brandenburg ein klares Votum gegen einen massenhaften Ausbau, für größere Abstandsmaße, für den Schutz der Umwelt, der Heimat und bürgerlichen Werte abgegeben.

Dadurch wurde der Landtag gezwungen die VI anzuhören. Mit einer Ignoranz und Arroganz sondergleichen und mit dem verabredeten Vorsatz die Bürger im Land Brandenburg übel vorzuführen, wurde einstimmig durch die Kommission des Landtags entschieden, dass die Forderungen der VI abzulehnen sind. Die Kommission bringt eine solche Empfehlung nun in das Parlament ein.

Aus diesem Grund hat sich die Volksinitiative entschieden, eine politische Vereinigung zu gründen, die im September 2009 zur Landtagswahl antreten will. 18 Bewerber aus 11 von 13 Landkreisen werden nun zu Landtagswahl antreten.

Für diese schwere Aufgabe brauchen wir jegliche Unterstützung aus Deutschland, ganz Europa und aller Welt.

Wir sind die ersten, die einzig und alleine mit dem Hauptthema "Windenergie" zu einer Wahl antreten werden.

Schon einmal hat man uns totgeschwiegen, verleumdet und ausgelacht. Den Windlobbyisten ist nun das Lachen im Halse stecken geblieben.

Bitte unterstützen Sie die erste Politische Vereinigung in ganz Europa, die sich gegen den Windindustrieausbau ausspricht zur Landtagswahl im September 2009. Uns steht eine Lobby gegenüber, die fast alle Medien und Politiker im Lande für sich eingenommen hat.

Ich wurde von der VI beauftragt, mögliche Spenden und andere Unterstützung aus ganz Deutschland und der EU zu koordinieren.

Deutschland ist der Keim des Windwahns, das Land Brandenburg ist in Deutschland eines der schlimmsten Windlobbyländer. Hier müssen wir ansetzen, um diesem Windwahn ein Ende zu bereiten. Ist die VI im Landtagswahlkampf erfolgreich und setzt ein Zeichen, bricht die Windlobbyistenphalanx auf.
