Some industries just seem like natural good guys, like those that produce alternative, clean energies. But this story shows that big corporations are still big corporations, even if they are building windmill farms. If the little guy gets in their way, watch out!

Darlene Dotson and her sons, David and Daniel, had a home in the Tehachapi Mountains, outside of Mojave, California. The mountains have attracted a lot of development from the wind industry because of the area’s almost never-ceasing supply of wind. It happens to be at a point where the cool air drawn from the Pacific Ocean meets the dry, hot desert air, creating endless currents.

It also happens to be the place where the Dotsons have, or had, a vacation home with emotional and historical significance. They are understandably attached to it and have been determined to hold onto it.

According to the family’s attorney,
 Morgan Stewart:

________________________________________________________________________________

This law suit, filed late last week in California Superior Court tells the story of a family home being bulldozed by EDP Renewables North American in order to construct the Rising Tree wind facility. According to the complaint, EDPR badgered and bullied the family into selling the property.
Acts of vandalism were reported when the family refused to sell. The final action came last February when one of the sons returned to the home to do routine maintenance. He found "an empty lot with only the structure's foundation remaining." All contents of the home were destroyed/lost. Private land takings in the name of wind energy (in some cases at gun point) have been reported in Mexico, Africa and India. Now European wind developers have done the same in the United States.
EDPR Director of Project Management, Leslie Freiman, and Executive VP, Kris Cheney, and others from the project have since tried reaching out to the Dotson family to "discuss a possible resolution." The Dotsons allege that EDPR et.al. "deliberately destroyed the Dotson Family Home in order to force Mrs. Dotson to return to the negotiating table regarding a possible sale of her land."
